MSN Relaunched!

Microsoft has finally given the MSN homepage a cosmetic enhancement, this time complying with web standards. A lot of XHTML validation done here. Whats significant is that they have adopted CSS based table-less layouts and thats definitely a major improvement. However, the overall layout is still disappointing. One, the whole page looks a little cluttered (in Firefox atleast) giving a sense of unprofessionalism for a high profile site like MSN. And two, there is way too much similarity with Yahoo's search bar (pointy tabs).

However, this is not to say that MSN cant compete with the others in this domain. With a little more time spent on improving the interface and optimizing search algorithms, MSN can give Google (or Yahoo for that matter) a run for their money!

Update [Feb 8th, 2005] - MSN Arabia looks a lot better!

Although I agree that the design was rather lame, you can bet your last rupee that softie isnt over in this game. Keep throwing sticky jockstraps at the wall, and one is sure to stick! Unlimited capital means more chances......

True, but more attempts means less credibility too! They need to get it right soon before being side-tracked. Just took a look at it a while back and the validation errors have drastically reduced. They're working on it.

Addu, you aware of Jordon's offer for Narain Karthikeyan?

Actually, I am aware of the Jordan offer for Karthikeyan. It will be a shot in the arm for Indian viewership, and for Formula 1 in general to have the sudden surge.
As a suggestion, why dont you include F1 as one of the topics in your blog (not cut-paste daily news) as F1 is the pinnacle of automotive technology.
