Bcoz I get that from wired.com feed. Btw adel, I think u shud think twice b4 buying the new one.

Though I understand the stability of the OS has been the backbone for these MACs.. the performance of POWER PCs to me is much better than a pentium..

ramantheb : Well, its both actually. Apple deciding to go with Intel came at a point when I was seriously contemplating on getting a laptop sometime in the near future. Now that Apple has decided to switch chips, it will take another year before the intel based machines hit the market. So, hence the wait!

ioiio: Intel based machines are equally good when it comes to stability and performance.

To me the best part of the deal is that Apple and the PC industry will share more or less the same components. So you have a level playing field. Even if you paid extra for the Apple machine than, say a Dell, that extra will be a bargain if you take into account, Apple's product design skills, the value of the bundled software and the killer applications that come with it. The point is - it will no longer be about platforms, but software!

By the way, I had gone to Apple Center yesterday and was completely floored by this baby. My faith in the product seems to be growing everyday!
